RARE -- Artemis -- Ephesos, Ionia, 245 - 202 B.C.

Lacking a motto or legend to identify its origin, this rare issue has been attributed to Ephesos by CNG, likely because similar Artemis and stag types are typical of Ephesos, and perhaps knowing more about their find-context.

Matt Kreuzer notes Artemis and stag types were also used by King Amyntas, who was awarded Galatia by Antony in 37/6 B.C. and who continued to rule until his death in 25 B.C. Artemis definitely has the features of Cleopatra VII of Egypt, and might be offered in mintage as a sign of deference to Marc Antony and his Egyptian queen.

Silver obol, SNG Copenhagen -; SNG von Aulock -; SNG Kayhan -; Klein -; cf. CNG 161, lot 64 and Mail Bid Sale 75, lot 374, VF, 0.413g, 7.6mm, 0o, Ephesos? mint, obverse bust of Artemis right, bow and quiver over shoulder; reverse forepart of stag left, head reverted. VERY VERY RARE, almost unobtainable.

A powerful connection to the "lost" tradition of Pythagoras in Egypt prior to its passage into the Arabian desert. Also a very strong connect to the Sufi Mystery School of Rumi, quite possibly because of passage through a dealer's hands in Konia, Turkey.

NOT REPEATABLE EVER!!! This is one of the rarest coins of its type! It is being offered as a reading artifact, which is in addition to its value as a collectible coin! USE ONLY WITH A SUPERBEACON. Reads from this coin can knock over a psychic sensitive like a Greyhound bus hitting a brick wall.
